Katy Perry has a new charitable project on her hands. The pop star has been named by UNICEF as the organization's latest "Goodwill Ambassador."
Katy says in a statement that she's "honored" to take on the role, and take she's "committed to doing everything [she] can to help children" achieve their goal of "a brighter future."
UNICEF's executive director Anthony Luke also adds that the singer is "a champion for children" and that they are "looking forward to hearing her 'roar'" on behalf of their cause.
Katy took to Twitter with a link to footage from her recent trip to Madagascar, put to her new single "Unconditionally."
Katy joins a long list of entertainers who have been Goodwill Ambassadors in past years, including Shakira, Ricky Martin, Whoopi Goldberg, Orlando Bloom and Susan Sarandon.
