Candy Crush is the biggest smartphone game phenomenon since Angry Birds. Only this time CC is pulling a stunt that is so insane, it's knocking other games out of the app developing race.

Candy Crush just got approved to trademark the word "candy" as it relates to games and clothing. So now, other games with the word "candy" in it are getting letters from CC's lawyers telling them that by using the sticky-sweet word, they are now committing trademark infringement and will have to think of a different name to describe their game. We really didn't think it was possible to call dibs on such a broadly-used word – especially since Facebook tried to trademark the words "face" and "book" and got properly shut down (and embarrassed) in the process. (Forbes)
