If you were around in the mid-1970's, you'll probably recognize the phrase: "Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology." It's from the opening sequence of television's "The Six Million Dollar Man."
Fast-forward about 40 years to 2014. A Michigan man is among the first in the United States to receive a "bionic eye," an artificial retina that got approval from the Food and Drug Administration just last year. Roger Pontz has been blind for years, progressively losing his vision due to an inherited disease known as retinitis pigmentosa. Due to the surgical implantation of the artificial retina, Pontz now gets glimpses of his wife, grandson, and cat. More from foxnews.com.
