Public Virginia Colleges & Universities To Freeze Tuition For 2019-2020

WTOP has reported via The Associated Press that all public colleges and universities in the state of Virginia will freeze their tuition for the upcoming 2019-2020 academic year. This will mark the first time in 20 years that this has happened. While the target is in-state tuition, six schools are expanding the offer to out-of-state students as well. Lawmakers included $57.5 million in this year’s state budget for colleges that agreed to freeze their tuition to share. Every school took them up on the offer. The funds were targeted for in-state tuition but six schools are also freezing out-of-state tuition. They are Christopher Newport University, George Mason University, Norfolk State University, Virginia Military Institute, Virginia Commonwealth University and Radford University.
