Christina Mellot, a rising senior at Freedom High School in Loudon County, VA is a finalist in Duck Tape's "Stuck At Prom" scholarship contest and has the potential to win $10,000 for her design!
The 17-year-old says that it took her 80 hours and 36 rolls of tape to create the dress and was "inspired by a small creek...in [her] backyard." She also said that "[t]he overall look created a great mood for spring prom, and all the elements of the dress worked together to create a cohesive prom dress."
NBC Washington had shared this story and reported that Mellot "has been designing clothes for three to four years already, got her start in design after receiving a sewing machine for Christmas.
