The Washington Monument will be making one giant leap to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Neil Armstrong's historic landing on the moon for several days...and we really do mean GIANT!
The Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum will project a 363-foot rocket (a Saturn V to be specific) onto the tallest building in DC along with a show titled "Apollo 50: Go To The Moon." The show will last 17 minutes to tell the story of Apollo 11's trek to our moon. According to the Air & Space Museum, the show will also include "supporting screens, including a 40-foot-wide recreation of the famous Kennedy Space Center countdown clock" in addition to the sure-to-be incredible projection.
The show will run at 9:30P, 10:30P & 11:30P on Friday, July 19 & Saturday, July 20 but if you just want to see the projection, it will be live from 9:30P-11:30P from Tuesday, July 16 - Thursday, July 18.
