Billy Joel is making history in Baltimore tonight by not only playing his first show at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, but by playing the first show EVER in the stadium! Here is what you need to know for the show tonight (via orioles.com/billyjoel):
Show Info:
Attendees should be aware that there are some different facility policies for this event has as compared to Orioles games. Also, due to the tendency of concert crowds to be late-arriving, we encourage you to arrive to the ballpark as early as possible to make your way through security.
- Parking Lots:Open 4 p.m. - Midnight
- Gates Open: 6 p.m.
- Show Starts: 8 p.m.
- Tailgating is not permitted in the Oriole Park parking lots.
- Birdland Membership lines will not be in use at the gates, and Birdland Membership discounts will not be available when purchasing concessions or merchandise.
- No bags will be allowed (except clutch-size purses and medical supplies, and these bags will be subject to search upon entry).
- No outside food or beverages will be allowed.
- No re-entry will be permitted at the gates; once you have entered the facility, you may not leave and re-enter.
- Attendees of all ages require a ticket for entry, including children under the age of two.
Security:
Oriole Park at Camden Yards has mandatory metal detection screening of all fans prior to entry at each event at the ballpark. Oriole Park has walk-through magnetometers or hand-held metal detectors at each entrance.
Wallets, phones, keys, and other permitted objects can remain in pockets or a size-compliant clutch-sized purse during entry screening. Bags and backpacks will not be allowed into the ballpark.
Directions:
Several roads around Oriole Park at Camden Yards that were previously closed due to an underground water main break in Baltimore City will reopen from noon on Friday until Sunday morning. Traffic is expected to be heavy, and fans are encouraged to allow more time getting to and from Oriole Park for Friday night's Billy Joel concert.
Two lanes of Pratt Street between Paca Street and Howard Street will be open, allowing motorists to utilize the full stretch of Pratt Street in the downtown area. Two lanes of northbound Howard Street between Conway Street and Lombard Street will also be open, allowing motorists coming into Baltimore from northbound I-395 to use both Conway Street and Howard Street to access downtown Baltimore. Southbound Howard Street will remain closed between Lombard Street and Conway Street.
Fans coming to the ballpark from the north and traveling through the city will be able to access the ballpark via Conway Street from the east or Lee Street (via Russell Street) from the west.
Fans entering Baltimore via I-395 North (Exit 53) can still access the ballpark parking lots and Lee Street via the Russell Street exit on the right.
Light Rail service will continue running as scheduled from the south to Camden Yards. Light Rail service from the north is interrupted between North Avenue and Camden Yards, and shuttle bus service is in place between North Avenue and Camden Yards to accommodate passengers.
