Kobe Bryant was aboard a helicopter that crashed and killed 9 lives on Sunday and among the other lives taken was Christina Mauser.
Mauser's husband, Matt, called into the Today Show to speak with Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie about the tragedy and it was heartbreaking.
“It’s horrible,” he said. “It’s horrible. I’ve got three small kids, and I’m trying to figure out how to navigate life with three kids and no mom.”
When asked if he was angry, Matt instead said that he was scared.
“I’m scared, I think, more than anything, I’m a little scared about the future.”
Following that, he wanted to speak about his wife.
“Christina — well, [Bryant] didn’t choose Christina for just any ordinary reason,” he said. “She was extraordinary. She was witty, incredibly witty. Funny — funny like nobody you’ve ever met … She was warm. She was incredibly bright. She was technologically incredibly savvy, she could figure out anything.”
Christina and Bryant originally connected over a field trip (since Matt was a teacher at the school where Bryant's children were enrolled) and she went on to be a coach at Bryant's Mamba Sports Academy.
