Gov. Larry Hogan has revealed that the first case of "community transmission" of the coronavirus has been identified in Maryland. The diagnosed individual is a resident of Prince George's County and it is unknown how/where they obtained the virus because there was "no known exposure...through travel or an infected individual."
Gov. Hogan will address the matter at 4PM today including what the state's plan is moving forward to protect fellow individuals.
As of last night (March 11), there have been 12 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Maryland.
“Marylanders should be taking this pandemic very seriously,” said Governor Hogan. “All Marylanders need to understand that there may be significant disruption to your everyday lives for a period of time. We will continue tracking this and will be receiving and providing Marylanders with almost constant, up-to-the-minute information. I want to continue to assure Marylanders that our state is taking every precaution when it comes to the coronavirus, because our highest priority is keeping our residents safe.”
