DC Restricts Travel From 27 States

DC's Mayor Muriel Bowser announced that the District will be restricting travel from 27 states that are considered to be hot spots for the coronavirus. As reported by NBC Washington, "[a]nyone who traveled from the states, including nearby Delaware and North Carolina, on nonessential business must stay home for two weeks unless they must leave to get food or medical care."

The order is being enforced through October 9 and violators are subject to 90 days in jail or a $5,000 fine.

The list of states is:

  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Idaho
  • Iowa
  • Kansas
  • Louisiana
  • Mississippi
  • Missouri
  • Montana
  • Nebraska
  • Nevada
  • New Mexico
  • North Carolina
  • North Dakota
  • Ohio
  • Oklahoma
  • South Carolina
  • Tennessee
  • Texas
  • Utah
  • Washington
  • Wisconsin

The order only applies to the District of Columbia. Maryland and Virginia are exempt. Read more here.
