Ovechkin Crowned Best NHL Player At 2019 ESPYs

Just like the Capitals' Instagram post says, there were no surprises here!

For the second year in a row, the Washington Capitals' own Alex Oveckin was awarded the ESPY Award for Best NHL Player at ESPN's annual ceremony recognizing the greatest athletes!

Ovechkin rightfully deserved this honor! 2019 marked the 8th time in his career that he had won the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy, which is given to the player in the league with the most goals (51) AND according to an article released by the Caps, "Ovechkin leads the NHL in goals (658), power-play goals (247), power play points (464), game-winning goals (107), shots (5,234) and ranks second in points (1,211)" since entering the league in the 2005-2006 season.
