Shane Canfield was named Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Worldwide Assurance for Employees of Public Agencies (WAEPA) in March 2016. With over 24 years of experience, he is leading the premier life insurance program for civilian employees of the U.S. Federal Government.
WAEPA is a non-profit association (not an insurance company) formed by federal employees, for federal employees during World War II. Established in 1943, the mission remains to provide access to products and services that promote the health, welfare, and financial well-being of its members.
Today, WAEPA continues to grow with 42,000 members. Canfield’s top priority is serving WAEPA’s membership by providing products that cater exclusively to the federal market.
Canfield earned a Master of Science degree in Business Administration from George Mason University. He sits on the Board of Directors for the Council of HR Management Associations (COHRMA). He is a member of LIMRA and International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP). Canfield is married, has three children and lives in Dickerson, Maryland.
