Prince William Farm to Table Dinner for Environmental Education 2018

On Saturday August 25, 2018 the Prince William Environmental Excellence Foundation (Foundation) will be hosting their 3rd annual Farm to Table fundraiser dinner to support environmental education. This year’s event will be held at Windy Knoll Farm located at 11602 Kettle Run Rd., Nokesville, VA 20181. Windy Knoll Farm is a working sheep and cattle farm with an event center that hosts the MWEE program that the Foundation helps to provide to Prince William county 3rd graders.

The event will run from 3 – 8 p.m. with the meal being served in two sessions to ensure seating. The first meal seating will be served from 3:30 to 5:30 and the second seating will occur from 5:30 to 7:30. Tickets for the meal are; $40 for adults, $20 for children ages 13 - 18, and free for children under 12. In addition to the meal, there will also be opportunities to meet the local artisan & farm sponsors and view vendor displays and antique equipment. A silent auction and raffle ticket sales will be held until 7 p.m. at which time winners will be announced. For those interested in a tour of the farm, hay rides will be provided that include a MWEE experience similar to what area third graders receive at the farm.

The meal will be an open seating buffet style dinner consisting of pork, chicken, and beef brisket BBQ, roasted corn on the cob, coleslaw, roasted potatoes, a fresh greens garden salad, and seasonal fruit cobbler prepared by Blue Dog BBQ. Ice cream will be prepared before your eyes on site by Wild About BBQ to be paired with the cobbler. Refreshments will be provided by PWCSWCD that include; lemonade, tea, and water. All ingredients for this meal have been provided & produced by our sponsoring farms within Prince William County. . Two of our sponsors, Old Bust Head Brewing Company and The Winery at La Grange will be on site offering by the glass purchase of locally produced beer and wine.

All proceeds from the event go towards the implementation of beyond the walls of the classroom environmental and agricultural education for the Prince William County Community. This mission is achieved through educational programs: Farm Field Days, Meaningful Watershed Educational Experiences (MWEE’s), Arbor Day activities, Water Quality Monitoring, and Adopt-A-Stream, to name a few.
