Washington Mystics Are WNBA Champions!

For the first time in franchise history, the Washington Mystics are WNBA Champions!

The Mystics outscored the Connecticut Sun 89-78 in game 5 of the WNBA Finals at home on Thursday, Oct. 10. Regular season MVP Elena Delle Donne put up 21 points and nine rebounds during the match-up with three herniated discs in her back (which was revealed after the game) and told ESPN that "[i]t's hard to even put it to words, but to win this, and win this with such a great group of people, I think that's what makes this so special."

In lieu of a parade, the Mystics will host a celebratory party from 2:00 PM-4:00 PM today, Oct. 11, at the Entertainment and Sports Arena in SE DC.
