Gov. Northam Enforces Stay-At-Home Order For Virginia

Governor Northam Speaks At Unveiling Of Kehinde Wiley Statue At Virginia Museum Of Fine Arts

During his press conference on March 30, Gov. Ralph Northam has issued an executive stay-at-home order for the state of Virginia through June 10, 2020.

Gov. Northam identified the following as part of the order:

  • Virginians must remain in their place of residence unless they are essential personnel, in need of food, medicine or fresh air, travelling to take care of a family member, travelling to facilitate child custody or travelling to a place of worship
  • Virginia Beaches are closed except for the use of exercise and fishing
  • Institutions of higher-education must cease in-person classes and instruction

Virginia has now reported 1,020 confirmed cases of coronavirus, 136 hospitalizations and 25 deaths.
