During his press conference on March 30, Gov. Ralph Northam has issued an executive stay-at-home order for the state of Virginia through June 10, 2020.
Gov. Northam identified the following as part of the order:
- Virginians must remain in their place of residence unless they are essential personnel, in need of food, medicine or fresh air, travelling to take care of a family member, travelling to facilitate child custody or travelling to a place of worship
- Virginia Beaches are closed except for the use of exercise and fishing
- Institutions of higher-education must cease in-person classes and instruction
Virginia has now reported 1,020 confirmed cases of coronavirus, 136 hospitalizations and 25 deaths.
