Virginia Can Begin Phase 3 of Re-Opening On July 1

Gov. Ralph Northam announced on June 23 that Virginia may proceed to stage 3 of re-opening on July 1, but did not clarify whether or not Northern Virginia would participate. Throughout the re-opening process, they have stayed one phase behind the rest of the state.

During phase 3, "the cap on capacity for non-essential retail and restaurants will end, museums and zoos will be able reopen at 50 percent capacity and gyms will be able to open at 75 percent capacity, among other changes," as reported by WJLA.

More details include:

  • no social gatherings of 250+ individuals
  • continued social distancing and teleworking
  • face coverings required for indoor public spaces
  • appointments are no longer required at places of personal grooming
