Country Artist Drake White, Wife 'Heartbroken' Over Loss Of Baby Daughter

Country artist Drake White and his wife, Alex White, are mourning the loss of their “precious daughter,” they said on Sunday (September 7). She was born at 29 weeks, and died shortly after her arrival.

Alex wrote in the caption of a shared Instagram post that daughter Della Elizabeth White “went peacefully to be with Jesus” on Sunday, August 31. “We are so thankful for the holy moments God gave us with her. The Lord has been so near and close to us during this difficult time. He has held us up and sustained us through it all. We are heartbroken and soul tired, but we know we will get through this difficult time with the strength, peace, and joy that only our Heavenly Father can provide. May Della be held in the arms of Jesus until we see her again someday.”

Drake and Alex included Psalm 34:18 and Psalm 31:10, 14-15 in their tribute to their late daughter. Delia was born at 29 weeks, weighing 3lbs 3.5 oz, and measuring 13.25 in. She arrived at 8:52 a.m. on August 31, and “peacefully went to be with Jesus” at 9:12 a.m., Drake and Alex shared. Their post quickly drew condolences from Charlie Worsham, Chase Rice, Travis Denning, Lauren Alaina, Jessie James Decker, RaeLynn and others in the music community.

Drake and Alex announced Alex’s pregnancy in May. the musician said at the time that son William Hawk, 2, was abut to step up for “big brother duties. …We’re excited to welcome a baby girl to our family this November.” Alex shared with PEOPLE at that time that “we were able to conceive through IVF and had our frozen embryo transfer in March. We found out we were pregnant 10 days later and are due in November.”
