New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers reportedly underwent an MRI on Monday (September 29) confirming he suffered a season-ending right torn ACL in Sunday's (September 28) win against the Los Angeles Chargers, a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
"An MRI today confirmed that Giants standout WR Malik Nabers suffered a season-ending torn ACL during Sunday’s game vs. the Chargers, per source," Schefter wrote on his X account.
Nabers was feared to have suffered a season-ending ACL tear after being carted off the field during the second quarter of Sunday's game at MetLife Stadium. The former LSU standout entered Week 5 with 16 catches for 251 yards and two touchdowns and recorded two receptions for 20 yards prior to his injury.
Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, who made his first career start on Sunday, briefly exited the game to be evaluated for a potential injury after Nabers was carted off. Nabers was selected by the Giants at No. 6 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft and recorded 109 receptions for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns during his first NFL season, setting NFL records for the most receptions by a rookie in a single season and most targets by a rookie in a season (170), as well as being the fastest wide receiver with multiple touchdowns in a game and the fastest to reach 100 career receptions.
