Jeff Wright set a Maryland state record when he caught a 72.8 lb mahi mahi off the coast of Ocean City, Maryland! According to CBS Baltimore, the 34-year-old from Cambridge "broke the record for the Maryland state fishing’s Atlantic division for common dolphinfish or mahi mahi."
The fish was caught after 12PM on July 30 and Wright said that “It literally took 25 minutes to get this in. I had to play it until it finally gave up.”
The pre-existing record for the common dolphinfish was set in July 1985 when a woman named Kim Larson brought in a fish that weighed 67.8 lbs.
