Gannett Building In Tysons Evacuated, Man With Weapon Speculated

Update 1:12PM: Tim Barber of ABC7 has spoken with the Chief and it is being reported that the suspected individual is believed to be a former employee of the building.

Update 1:09PM: WUSA9 has reported that officials have found no evidence of acts of physical violence.

The Gannett building, which is home to USA Today, was evacuated do the reports of a man on the premise with a weapon. Some reports are saying that "suspicious activity" has been reported and others have reported the potential of an active shooter.

The Fairfax County Police are advising people to avoid the area, (the building is located at 7950 Jones Branch Drive in McLean, VA).

USA Today has shared that workers "reported hearing a fire alarm and an announcement over the loudspeaker about an incident inside the building."

Videos have been posted to social media of people flocking the building. No other details have been provided at this time.
