As the most anticipated food holiday of the year, IHOP National Pancake Day is on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 this year and you have a special invitation from Lucia!
Lucia was diagnosed in January 2018 with acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) after unusual bruising on her legs and a long lasting fever. She endured more than 9 months of aggressive treatment, but found it an opportunity to play with nurses and doctors and create art. Her infectious smile has been an inspiration to LLS (and our community of partners like IHOP)! By the end of September 2018 Lucia was confirmed to be in remission… cancer free!! She is now enjoying school and can’t wait to volunteer with her family on IHOP’s National Pancake Day.
On Feb. 25, all local IHOP restaurants will give away FREE short stacks of buttermilk pancakes from 7am-10pm! In lieu of paying for their pancakes, guests are asked to leave a donation to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society on their check or in-restaurant through collection boxes. The fundraising goal this year for IHOP National Pancake Day is $4 million. To-date, IHOP has locally raised more than $3.3 million for LLS since creating IHOP National Pancake Day in 2001.
We’re avid supporters of LLS in the hopes that other families will not have to endure what we did. We’re so grateful to companies like IHOP who really make it their mission – both with employees and with customers – to help families like ours. We stand by LLS and their goal to revolutionize the standard of care for children with cancer, providing safer, more effective treatments that rely less on chemotherapies that harm healthy cells in the body.
Visit www.ihoppancakeday.com and follow The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society on social media at @LLSNATCAP to hear about exciting Pancake Day updates. You can also sign up to volunteer at one of the 40 area IHOP locations that day!! Please consider signing up for a volunteer shift at: www.signupgenius.com/go/9040f44aca92daafb6-ihop or contact Christina, LLS Staff, at Christina.Crain@LLS.org or (512) 550-9794.
