WASHINGTON DC:
DC Mayor Muriel Bower is lifting the stay-at-home order Friday, May 29, and moving the District into Phase 1 of reopening, or “stay-at-home light,” as she’s calling it. She is asking residents to continue to social distance, practice hand-washing hygiene, and wear face masks or coverings, and gatherings of 10 or more are still banned. Starting Friday, nonessential retail businesses will be able to operate curbside pick-up, restaurants will be able to offer outdoor seating, and parks operated by the DC government will be open, among other restrictions.
MARYLAND:
Although Gov. Larry Hogan is moving the state into phase one of reopening starting at 5 p.m. Friday May 29, he has left the final call to the county executives to do what makes sense for their residents.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY: County Executive Marc Elrich says Montgomery County has yet to reach the benchmarks he has set to consider moving the county into the reopening phase, and is issuing an extension on the current stay-at-home order. Nonessential businesses including barbershops, nail and hair salons, and restaurant dining rooms will remain closed until further notice.
PRINCE GEORGES COUNTY: Prince Georges County Executive Angela Alsobrooks announced the county will enter phase one of reopening on June 1. Under phase one, manufacturing will be able to reopen provided they follow CDC guidelines. Barbershops and hair salons will be able to open by appointment only and both customers and employees must wear mask. Restaurants will be allowed to open outdoor seating, but employees and guests will need to wear face coverings and no more than six guests may be sat at a table, tables must be six feet apart and no more than 50 people will be allowed in an establishment at any time. Employees will also need to be screened before starting their shift and hand sanitizer and gloves must be made available. Houses of worship will be allowed to reopen, but no more than 10 worshippers may enter at a time. Childcare services may resume, but must follow CDC guidelines and Famers Markets will reopen for carryout as well. Retail stores will be able to offer curbside pickup for customers, but may allow patrons inside the establishment.
VIRGINIA:
Gov. Ralph Northam has lifted the stay-at-home order in Virginia, but Virginias are required to wear face masks while in public spaces. Although the commonwealth has transitioned into Phase 1, Northern Virginia’s stay-at-home order was extended. That order will be lifted Friday May 29.
Under Phase 1 gatherings of 10 or more continue to be banned. Restaurants will remain closed, but may offer delivery and take-out services. Meanwhile, fitness centers, beauty salons, barbershops , and tanning salons must remain closed. Retail stores may open, but must limit customers to no more than 10 in an establishment at anytime.
NORTHERN VIRGINIA:
(Counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William, and the Cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas, Manassas Park, as well as the Towns of Dumfries, Herndon, Leesburg, and Vienna): Are under a stay-at-home order until Friday May 29 where they will be able to join the rest of the state in following Phase 1 guidelines.
