USA Today reported that "Starbucks will close up to 400 company-owned locations over the next 18 months while also speeding up the expansion of "convenience-led formats" such as curbside pickup, Drive-Thru and mobile-only pickup locations."
While the exact location of the 400 stores is undisclosed, word has been circulating that approx. half of those stores will be Canadian locations.
But while 400 stores will be closing their doors for good over the next year a half, the coffee giant is said to be opening 300 new locations. They said in a press release that "[o]ver the next 18 months, Starbucks will increase convenience-led formats in company-operated locations with drive-thru and curbside pickup options, as well as Starbucks® Pickup locations."
