The Washington Redskins' are moving on with a new name.
According to the Washington Post, "three people with knowledge of the situation confirmed Sunday night" and the announcement of the name change will come today, (Monday, July 13) but they will not reveal the new name until a later date.
The news has been anticipated since the organization said that they would "undergo a thorough review" on July 3 "in light of recent events around [the] country and feedback from [their] community."
Head Coach Ron Rivera revealed in a Fourth of July interview that he was working with the team's owner, Daniel Snyder, hoped that the new name would be in effect for the 2020 season.
Apparently the organization has chosen a preferred name but they are currently "tied up in a trademark fight," according to the Washington Post.
