Just hours before our World Series Champion Washington Nationals take the field at Nats Park to open up the season against the New York Yankees, it has been reported that left fielder Juan Soto has tested positive for COVID-19 and will not play.
Jeff Passan, MLB Insider for ESPN, was the first to report the news and since then Jesse Dougherty, Nats reporter for the Washington Post, confirmed the news.
According to Dougherty, Nationals' General Manager Mike Rizzo says that Soto is asymptomatic. He was tested two days ago, they received his results this morning and "no one else is inactive after contact tracing."
According to Bill Shaikin, Soto will need two tests to come back negative in order for him to return to the team.
