Kenny Chesney paid tribute to “the characters, old bars, dusty streets and often unseen places,” of Key West.
The 2025 Country Music Hall of Fame inductee brought his newest single to life with a music video set in Key West, interspersed with clips from his high-energy stadium shows. Chesney released “Carry On” earlier this month, written by. Chase McGill, Matt Jenkins, and Jessi Alexander.
“Key West isn’t about who you are,” Chesney shared in a statement, “but what’s in your soul. It’s the great equalizer, with wisdom to be found just about anywhere if you listen. I knew I wanted this video to show people that heart – beyond what tourists see – and give them a sense of what this song’s really reaching into in terms of how to live. ...It’s a different kind of freedom. People here aren’t running after anything, but letting go of all that – and hanging onto what makes them happy. That’s the deal, really. It’s what I wanted this video to represent, and what I think reflects how this song hits me.”
Chesney, who’s gearing up for another run of shows at Sphere Las Vegas, previously said “Carry On” is “about hitting the reset button in your life, no matter what you do with your life. We all got stress with work, we all got stress with relationships, we all got stress with life. And when I first heard ‘Carry On,’ It reminded me just how simple hitting the reset button can be.”
